What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese word and is best translated as Rei, meaning Spirit or Universe, and Ki meaning Life Force Energy.
In the early 1900’s, after years of study and personal spiritual practice, Dr Mikao Usui, laid the foundation of the system of energy healing we now call Reiki. The essence of his teaching is to bring about an inner awakening and insight to higher understanding of your true self.
Reiki is not a religion. It holds no belief system, and there is no need to alter any beliefs that may be already held, for it to work.
The Reiki healer is a channel for the flow of Universal Life Energy. This energy flow brings deep relaxation, evoking a sense of peace and wellbeing, always working for the Highest Good of the recipient to restore the natural balance.

It has been known to all cultures throughout human history that there is a powerful, all-pervading force or spirit surrounding all life forms.
As far back I as can remember, intuitively I have known this to exist, so it was a natural progression for me to follow a path that led me in varied ways as I searched for a more meaningful life.
In 1993, I attained my Reiki 1 Degree and began sharing Reiki treatments with friends, family and clients. My spiritual life continued to unfold as I gained confidence in the Reiki energy to bring not only healing to others, but to myself as well. Seven years later, I attained Reiki 2 level, expanding my understanding of this gentle but profound healing system.
In 2015, I deeply felt the call to become a Master and share my knowledge with others drawn to the Reiki path.
A Reiki treatment takes about an hour. It involves the client lying comfortably and fully clothed while the practitioner places their hand gently on the body in varying positions. Each individual will have a different result from a Reiki session and may feel a range of sensations, feelings, emotions, intuition, and / or visions. The most common element experienced is a deep sense of relaxation.
Every client is treated with kindness and compassion. Ethics, integrity, confidentiality and trust are assured.
I facilitate courses from my dedicated Reiki room, Eastern Light Reiki Studio, situated at Cable Bay in beautiful Doubtless Bay, Far North, New Zealand. I prefer small classes where participants have time to practice and ask any questions that may arise throughout the course.
For a Reiki 1 class, two participants are necessary as you practice on each other through the course learning time. Reiki 2 can be imparted with one participant but you must have completed Reiki 1.
